From Peasant to Pastor
The rural-urban transformation of Protestant  Christianity in Linyi, Shandong Province

Kang Jie is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity and Ph.D. researcher at the University of Leipzig. The project examines the rise of Christian ‘house churches’ in Linyi Prefecture, Shandong Province. She obtained a Diplom in Economics at Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg (2005). From 2006 to 2009 she worked as chief of the representative office of University of Konstanz in Beijing. Her research interests are transnational religious networks and religious change and urbanization.
