Meet Our Researchers: Li Xuetao

 

Li Xuetao is a historian of Chinese history, scholar of religious studies, and Germanist. He studied in Beijing, Marburg, and Bonn, and earned his PhD in Bonn. He is a professor of global history at the Beijing Foreign Studies University. Since 2023, he has been a member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina. In the summer semester of 2024, Prof. Li Xuetao will serve as a guest lecturer at the East Asian Seminar of the University of Göttingen, where he will lead the seminar titled “The Modernization of Buddhism in China.”
